My fairy alcoholic tale...

I first met Yvonne thanks to Chris. He once take her and her good friend Huijun out to show them what exchange students like us do on a firday night (basically getting drunk). So I first met her this night, at Boat quay. We were supposed to go into some club and sit there and dance. But we figure out the alcohol inside would be too expensive so we all decided to go to some hawker store nearby, get drunk with cheap beer and then go. What a nice image of the exchange students Yvonne and Huijun must have had at this point. Especially because they had to get back home before we were done (pissed drunk) so they could not even go to the club with us. And the sad point is that they don't drink, so they have this chore to listen to drunk guys. Well according to Yvonne afterward, we were actually saying almost interesting stuff... After that some doctors want to make us believe that alcohol kills brain cells !!! What non sense :)

Anyway, I guess in the end, we had a good impression of each other. I met her a second time at the US embassy party. This time, at the US embassy my goal was truly to get totally drunk. I did not know she was suppose to come. But Chris took her and Huijun out again. When the party at US embassy was over, we all went to a club called Cardigins, and Chris and Yvonne went there too. According to Yvonne, we chat a little bit there but I must admit I have trouble remembering everything (anything). But quoting Yvonne, I sounded not that stupid again.

I did not see her during one week after that because it was holiday here. But the next time I saw her, she gaves me a little note and told me just before she left that I should not show it to anybody. I was surprised of course, and this little note actually kind of asked me out for a movie :) . Although I was not very sure of what I was doing I accepted and we were supposed to meet at Dhoby Gaut MRT station. I went there in advance and I sat on the floor waiting for her to come. When she arrived, she had made her hair with plaits. She looked so beatiful that I was voiceless. This stupid me did not even say some "You look great" or anything. I could just say a stupid "Hm, OK, let's go". But anyway, She brought me for a japanese movie "Welcome Back Mr. McDonald". I walked to the counter to buy tickets, but she then told me she already had the tickets. She called that "Singaporean efficiency". I was again very pleasently surprised. The movie was really good. Really funny. But of course, it is not the best place to know somebody. After that, we went for some drinks and then we talk for a very short hour. I then took her to a party at the Matahary bar where a couple of Norvegian guys were celebrating their birthday. There, It was great. I drank a couple of beers and I could see that she did not mind. I was also kind of afraid of bringing her there because she would not know many people, and I thought she would be like my second shadow (Although I must admit I would not have minded anyway). But she did not. She could go and talk to barely anybody. On my side, I was chatting with some friends and in the end, she and I eventually always get back to each other. As the party was ending, we were talking just the too of us. And I think it was the nicest time.

In the Taxi back to NTU, I took her hand, and the hand did not escape me. This is how it started :) and now, I am the happiest man on earth.

The story keeps going of course, but maybe I'll tell you about it later. If you wanna see a picture of my Yvonne, Click here.
