When I started this section, I did not have much to tell. Now that I want to put more in it, I need to change my organisation. This main page will just be a starting point on several links for different periods of time, events or little things that happened to me in here. This way you don't have to read everything and it's easier for my updates.
In Singapore I was an exchange student for one year - from July 1999 to June 2000. What I did here was one semester of study and one semester of Industrial Attachment. The university I studied in is NTU (Nanyang Technological University) It is very huge and hi-tech. I enjoyed myself a lot here.
I did my attachment at Merrill Lynch, an international business company. I was working in the Technology Department, in the developement section. We were working on the automation of the production of a daily profit-and-loss report for the Finance Department. Very interesting project indeed... However, I am not going to extend on this as I don't think many people will actually be interested in reading about it.
OK, So the following are all the little things I have done in Singapore. There is not many pictures yet because I actually lack a scanner, but I hope to find one soon.
Those little stories of mine may not interest you at all, so the next section is more of what I think is interesting to do in Singapore and my opinion on certain things that I have done in Singapore. I also included some tips for new exchange students in NTU. I remember when I first arrived, it was not always very easy to find my way, and I hope this may help some...
In the end, if you are really interested in going to Singapore, then I strongly recommand that you read this book: "Culture Shock! Singpore" (ISBN: 1558681086 by Joann Craig). It describes very well everything you need to know about the different communities in Singapore. Because, even if Singapore is very westernized, it still maintains a very strong Asian heart, and it will be wrong to take for granted that everything you know you will see here. This book was really of a great help and still remains a reference for me whenever I am looking for information on certain parts of the culture.
I hope these information were interested for you. If you have any comments, please feel free to contact me.
